We have had two of these carafe style Mr Coffee makers, first one lasted over 6 years. It seems that we just wore it out. Previously we had a normal Mr Coffee. That glass pot did not last one week in our new home with the *granite* countertops. We purchased the carafe style simply for the durability. It was wonderful to find out that it would keep coffee warm for 5+ hours. I also like the safety aspect of this coffee maker. By its design, it only runs the heater when actually brewing. No worrying about a left on coffee maker scorching coffee to the bottom of the pot or starting a fire by overheating. I'm about to buy a new one. The 2nd one is still working fine. I just want to keep a spare in our pantry.
